Maximilian "Small Letters" Specimen Pattern Peso 1866 Mo SP62 PCGS, Mexico City mint, KM-Pn100, El-171, WR-64. Obv. Head of Maximilian with lettering in the obverse legend that is noticeably smaller than the normal circulation strike legend. Rev. Crowned arms with date and value. A splendid Specimen example of this rare, and popular, Pattern issue. The strike is nice for the issue, with a hint of soft strike in Maximilian's hair and on the reverse shield. The surfaces show only a few minor contact marks, with ash-gray toning over underlying luster.
