Maximilian Peso 1866-Mo MS65 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM388.1. One of the finer examples of the fleeting Maximilian type that one might see. The strike is near-flawless for the issue, with fully lustrous surfaces. The centers display silvery-gray patina, while the peripheries show bands of gold and russet toning. The appearance is superb and this piece is the finest that we have seen of the date. Only a single piece has been certified by both NGC and PCGS combined and we doubt that it has as nice an appearance as this coin.
