Philip V gold Cob 8 Escudos 1708 L-H AU58 NGC, Lima mint, KM38.1, Fr-7. From the 1715 Plate Fleet. Obv. Cross of Jerusalem with lions and castles in the angles. Rev. Crowned Pillars of Hercules above waves; partial date (1)708 across field. Only a hint of light rub prevents this gorgeous recovered piece from attaining a mint state designation. A fairly sharp strike for issue along with a good deal of luster only add to its charm and beauty. The date is fairly strong, while the cross is full and bold.
