Danzig. Michael I Korybut gold Ducat 1670/69-DL MS62 PCGS, Danzig mint, KM71.1, Fr-32, Kop-7679 (R6), D-S 364/1. An impressive rarity, this near-choice stunner offers tremendous brilliance and radiant luster, along with some lightly scattered marks and hairlines. An enchanting golden-orange tone is evident near the peripheries, and captivates the eye. The highly artistic engraving cannot be overstated as well, as the minute locks of Michael's hair show impressive detail. Even his facial features, which can be best described as 'rather full,' convey an immense degree of character. A very similar example, an NGC MS63, realized a hammer of $22,000 in our 2016 NYINC auction (sale 3044, lot 31382).
