Alexander II-Era silver "Death of M.V. Lomonosov" Medal 1835 MS62 NGC, Diakov-736.2. 50mm. Struck in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the death of Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov, a 18th century Russian scientist whose most notable discovery was the atmosphere of Venus. Attractively preserved, this medal exhibits deep, slightly iridescent tone over reflective fields. The design remains fully sharp and no major signs of handling are visible. Extremely rare in silver.
