Zeno, Eastern Roman Emperor (AD 474-491). AV solidus (4.48 gm). NGC MS 4/5 - 2/5, wrinkled. Constantinople, 4th officina, second reign, AD 476-491. Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed facing bust to front, head slightly right, holding spear over right shoulder and shield on left arm / Victory standing left, holding long voided cross decorated with jewels, star in right field, CONOB in exergue. RIC 929. Possibly overstruck on a solidus of Leo or Basiliscus(?), with resultant striking issues. Flan flaw on face, scratches in obverse right field.
