Republic 100 Centimes L'An 27 (1830) MS63 NGC, KM-A23. While struck on a somewhat crude flan (as is typically for these early pieces)--with a flan flaw visible at the Y in BOYER--the present offering presents an extremely crisp strike set amidst very pleasing pewter-gray fields with a nicely gunmetal tone to the high points of the devices that creates a poignant contrast. Currently tied for the finest known in the NGC census, this is destined to be a coveted piece.
