Venice. Giovanni Corner II (1709-1722) gold Zecchino ND MS64 NGC, 3.44g, KM481, Paolucci-118.13, CNI-VIIIb.99. IOAN ★ CORNEL • | S | • M | • V | E | N | E | T •, Doge kneeling left before St. Mark (standing right), receiving banner with two pellets on staff, DVX (stacked) to right / SIT • T • XPE • DAT • Q • TV • | REGIS • ISTI • DVCA, Christ in glory standing facing, book of Gospels in left hand, raising right in benediction, 7 stars to either side with one above and one below. An elegant and well-centered strike color this bright yellow piece which displays a slight bend in the flan extending from Christ's right hand while several letters in the legends feature hints of weak striking (with the E in ISTE looking more like an I). With only 2 other examples similarly graded by NGC and none finer, this jewel certainly calls for a premium bid.
