Peter I Rouble AΨΘI (1719) OK-IL-L VF Details (Surface Hairlines) NGC, Moscow mint, KM157.2, Dav-1653, Bit-821. An exceptionally rare issue, even in the present condition, this issue displays the special allure peculiar to the early Russian rouble series. The reverse exhibits a markedly uneven strike with the left half of the design remarkably crisp while the right is soft and weakly struck. On the obverse, some light flan cracks appear on the right shoulder of Peter's robes while the O in POCИI shows evidence of doubling. Even so, this piece retains much of its original appeal and was saved from the gaudy polished appearance so common on these early issues.
