KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great'. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 14.75 g, 12h). Amphipolis mint. Struck under Antipater, circa 325-323/2 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; to left, cock standing left. Price 79; Troxell, Studies, Issue E3; ANS 1944.100.28043 (same dies). VF, toned, bumps on edge, probably from prior mount. Unusually low-weight specimen, no indication of being fourrée or modern transfer die forgery.
