KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great'. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27mm, 17.11 g, 11h). Myriandros or Issos mint. Struck under Menes or Philotas, circa 325-324/3 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, monogram above club in wreath above globule; monogram below throne. Price 3231; Newell, Myriandros 29 (obv. die XVII). Good VF, minor die wear and a couple flan flaws on obverse, double struck on reverse. Rare issue with globule below wreathed club, only two (correctly attributed) in CoinArchives, ten in Pella database (ANS).
