Lucania. Metapontum. Circa 400-340 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 7.65 g, 12 h). Head of Demeter facing to left, her hair bound by a net, wearing a double-curved earring and a simple pearl necklace. Rev. METAΠ Ear of barley with a leaf on the right; to right, above the leaf, ivy-leaf. HN III 1546. Noe 519. With a particularly elegant and noble head of Demeter of splendid late classical style. Corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
