Thessaly. Dia. Mid 4th century BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 16 mm, 2.23 g, 7 h). Head of Zeus right, wearing tainia; thunderbolt behind neck. Rev. ΔIA–ΩИ Hera seated to left, her feet on a footstool, holding a phiale in her right hand and a long scepter in her left; below throne, Δ. BCD Thessaly II 64 (same dies). Demetriadi 2, (O1/R2), but as Dion in Macedonia. Rogers -. Very rare. Attractive black and green patina. Good very fine.

This is one of the great rarities of the Thessalian series: less than 5 or 6 pieces from Dia have ever appeared on the market.
