Resplandores considers this as a type that "generally, comes simply awful...this date is probably the worst of the entire series." This coin is a considerably better example than commonly seen or known for that matter. With some rather nice devices for the relatively weak strike, old patina tone throughout, and immensely desirable for the Cap and Ray aficionado.
