Republic 8 Reales 1866 Ca-JC AU Details (Surface Hairlines) NGC, Chihuahua mint, KM377.2, DP-Ca41. There is some evidence of hairlines within the fields but are by no means excessive and an observable small planchet flaw in the center of the eagle. The overall display of the piece is quite pleasing with remnants of original luster, an agreeable strike as the "Libertad" is fully discernable and the detail, particularly in the face of the eagle and the serpent, is rather nicely expressed. A rare Maximilian era issue and most desirable for its historical context.
