Michael VIII, Ducas-Angelus-Comnenus-Palaeologus as Despot and Emperor, 1258 - 1261. Aspron trachy, Magnesia 1261-1282, AR 2.15 g. St. Michael standing facing and holding sword. Rev. X / [MΔЄΠΟΤ – ΑΓЄω (ligate)] Michael on l., standing facing wearing divitision and loros and holding long cross-tipped sceptre in r. hand, and St. George on r., standing facing in military attire holding sword; both hold long labarum-headed sceptre between them. DO 26. Sear 2248. PCPC 10 (Magnesia).
Very rare. Obverse struck from worn dies, otherwise about extremely fine
