ΑΥΤ Κ Γ ΙΟΥ ΟΥΗΡ ΜΑΞΙΜЄΙΝΟС Γ ΙΟΥ ΟΥΗ ΜΑΞΙΜΟС Κ Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximinus I facing bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus. Rev. ΒΡΟΥΖΗ-ΝΩΝ Zeus, holding patera in his right hand and scepter with his left, seated left on a throne supported by two anguipede giants facing each other, each holding basket with fruits. BMC -. RPC VI online 5622 (same dies). SNG Copenhagen -. SNG Leypold -. SNG München -. SNG von Aulock -. Extremely rare, perhaps the second known. A very interesting issue with a wonderful reverse composition. Good very fine.


The reverse of this interesting issue shows us Zeus as the defeater of the Giants, whom he buried under volcanoes. They are shown here serving plates of fruit to the father of the gods in an act of submission.
