CELTIC, Central Gaul. Aedui. Circa 80-50 BC. Quinarius (Silver, 13 mm, 1.67 g, 3 h). Jugate stylized male heads to left, the lips formed out of straight lines and with two crescent-shaped laurel patterns before. Rev. Horse galloping to left; above and below, circlet. DT -. Flesche -. LT -. SLM -. Apparently unpublished and unique, a very interesting and unusual issue. Beautifully toned and very attractive. The obverse struck somewhat off center and the metal slightly crystallized, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the Helvetii Collection, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.

This is a curious and extraordinary coin: the obverse shows two stylized faces to left with crescent-shaped laurel patterns before, a highly unusual design that possibly imitates a double-struck Aedui quinarius.
