Honorius, 393-423. Solidus (Gold, 20 mm, 4.48 g, 6 h), a contemporary imitation from an irregular mint, after 395. D N HONORI-VS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Honorius facing slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield decorated with horseman attacking a fallen foe over his left shoulder. Rev. CONCORDI-A AVGG Θ / CONOB Constantinopolis seated facing, head turned to right, holding scepter in her right hand and Victory on globe in her left, placing her right foot on prow. Cf. Depeyrot 55/2 and RIC 8 (for prototype). Well struck and clear, a very well made contemporary imitation. Good extremely fine.
