SOGDIANA: Anonymous, ca. 2nd century BC, AR unit (1.32g), cf. Zeno-146695 for a much later example of this design, Yueh Chi style diademed bust left // forepart of a horse left, with Greek letter K to left, fine style, EF, RRR. This design was later adopted at Samarqand, and this piece seems to represent the initial style of the Samarqand "horsehead" series that would last for several centuries, rapidly disintegrating into almost childish simplified designs, as we can see on Zeno under Central Asia > Soghd > Samarqand.
