CUBA: AR 2 reales (5.19g), ND [1841], KM--, lattice countermark with star at center on Spanish 4 reales dated 1812 of Joseph Napoleon, Fine. In 1841, the Spanish authorities in Cuba ordered all circulating silver to be devalued and countermarked with a lattice punch. The countermarked silver was then permitted to circulate in Trinidad, Santiago, and Puerto Principe (later Port-au-Prince).
