CUBA: AR 2 reales (5.39g), ND [1841], KM-2, lattice countermark with star at center on Spanish 2 reales dated 1799, Madrid mint, Fine. In 1841, the Spanish authorities in Cuba ordered all circulating silver to be devalued and countermarked with a lattice punch. The countermarked silver was then permitted to circulate in Trinidad, Santiago, and Puerto Principe (later Port-au-Prince).
