UNITED STATES:1904, brass medal, H&K-307, NGC graded MS63 PL, "So-Called Dollar", Louisiana Purchase Exposition, Official Souvenir Coin of Admission, octagonal flan, SOUVENIR COIN OF ADMISSION above crowned bust of Louis IX resembling that on the Isabella quarter commemorative, dates 1803-1903 either side // LOUISIANA PURCHASE SOUVENIR COIN Co. SAINT LOUIS, date 1904 divided below map of the United States with purchase area outlined, flags of USA and France below American eagle, without serial number in oval space below. Called by some "the handsomest metal products" of the exposition. Issued by Louisiana Purchase Souvenir Coin Co., in no way connected with the exposition company. The round specimen appeared first at a cost of 50 cents, the purchaser entitled to guess the number of total paid admissions, the winner to receive $50,000 in gold! The promoters planned an office at the exposition entrance to redeem medals for admission tickets.
