GOVERNORS OF SIND: al-Ma'mun, caliph, 810-832, AR damma (0.57g), NM, ND, A-Z1493, al-khalifa / lillah al-amr / al-ma'mun with the middle line the start of Qur'an verse 30:3-4 // continuation of the verse, min qabl / wa min ba'd / ...., where the bottom one or two lines may be either the rest of the verse or the name of some governor, but off-flan on this example, Fine to VF, RRR. This appears to be yet another previously unreported type. Interestingly, the title "al-khalifa" for al-Ma'mun is normally used only in Egypt, plus some scarce dirhams of Madinat al-Salam and al-Muhammadiya dated AH204, also the year in which the verse 30:3-4 appears for the first time on the precious metal coinage.
UPDATED NOTES: Another known specimen has revealed that the name off-flan on the reverse is Yahya.
