All dirhams of Zaranj (176-193) cite the caliph al-Rashid in the reverse field, except a few rare examples dated 193 (this type), and it is conceivable that this piece, without the caliph's name, was actually struck after the officials at Zaranj knew that al-Rashid had died, but still did not know who would be his successor.
