ABBASID: al-Mu'tamid, 870-892, AR dirham (3.45g), uncertain mint, AH2(65), A-240.5var, contemporary imitation, muling an obverse citing al-Muwaffaq (AH262-273, heir of al-Mu'tamid) with a reverse citing al-Mu'tazz (AH251-255), about 15% flat, VF, RR. Probably struck somewhere in the Caucasus, during extensive political unrest in Armenia and Azerbaijan. The mint name resembles "m.s.t.f.r." (ending in "'ayn" or "ghayn"), but has never been identified.
