TURKEY: Abdul Aziz, 1861-1876, AR 20 kurush, Kostantiniye, AH1277 year 2, KM-693, with countermark tentatively read as khalid, VF. This example is the same countermark type as one published in a February 7, 1984 article in World Coin News about a small group of these found near El Obeid, Kordofan Province, Republic of the Sudan in 1959 by agricultural consultant working with U.S. Department of State programs. One of two unpublished countermark types on Turkish crowns found in hands of a local silversmith.
