ILKHAN: Hulagu, 1256-1265, AV dinar (7.42g), Baghdad, AH656//657, A-2121.1, citing the Great Mongol Möngke, dated 656 on obverse, 657 on reverse, about 30% flat strike, crude VF, RRR. AH656 was the first year coins were struck in the name of Hulagu, whose army conquered Baghdad and executed the last Abbasid caliph, al-Musta'sim, allegedly by having him wrapped in a blanked and stamped to death by an elephant.
