JAPAN: Meiwa, 1764-1772, AR 5 momme (18.76g), H-9.70, JNDA-09-46, issued 1765-68 in 46% silver, gin go momme (silver five momme), monji above right // joze, the name of the hereditary official of the silver mint of the Tokugawa clan, VF to EF. These pieces were also called the Tanuma Go Momme Gin. Tanuma was chief of the Palace Bureau and he authorized the production of this issue which proved very unpopular with the public.
