MACEDON, Amphipolis. 2nd century AD. Æ (13mm, 1.95 g, 9h). Helmeted bust of Athena right / Eagle standing left, head right. AMNG III/2, 50 var. (eagle right); RPC –; cf. SNG Christomanos 142 (larger denomination). VF, dark green-brown surfaces. Very rare.

As noted in RPC III, during the reign of Trajan, the spelling of the ethnic changed from AMΦIΠOΛITΩN to AMΦIΠOΛЄITΩN. This coin has the latter spelling.
