MACEDON, Amphipolis. 2nd century AD. Æ (19mm, 6.40 g, 1h). Bearded head of Herakles right, lion skin tied around neck / Athena Nikephoros standing left. AMNG III/2, 54; RPC –; SNG ANS 144. Good VF, brown patina.

As noted in RPC III, during the reign of Trajan, the spelling of the ethnic changed from AMΦIΠOΛITΩN to AMΦIΠOΛЄITΩN. This coin has the latter spelling.
