Laureate head of bearded Janus; I (mark of value) above / Prow of galley right; ROMA above; I (mark of value) to right; [C•]VIBI•PAN (PAN ligate) below. Crawford 342/7e; Sydenham 690d; Type as RBW 1292. VF, dark brown patina with traces of green, obverse roughness.

Rarely found with a clear denomination mark before the prow, this is variety 7e with the value mark but without the palm branch. The legend varieties on these types are...legendary, in this case, with ROMA above and C.VIBI.PAN (ligate) below, as per BMCRR Rome 2319-2320. [A. McCabe]
