Napoleon I. First Empire (1804-14). Encampment at Boulogne/Planned Invasion of England bronze Medal L'An XII (1804) UNC, Bramsen-319, Julius-1249, by J. P. Droz. 40.5mm. Exhibiting the dramatic scene of Hercules subduing the English lion, this expertly produced medal boasts smooth chestnut-brown surfaces overlaid with a light white lustrous gleam, a slight residue present in the fields and a dark spot on Napoleon's portrait noted for completeness. Attributed to Droz, the cataloguer believes the obverse to be the work of the celebrated engraver Andrieu. A premium and attractive offering.
