Napoleon I. First Empire (1804-14). Coronation of Napoleon silver Medal L'An XIII (1804) AU55 NGC, Bramsen-327, Julius-1266, by Andrieu. 31mm. A modest certification, perhaps, but this fades into insignificance when this medal is in hand; for its true appeal lies within its exceptional, outstanding, vibrant toning. Its colors so bright as to appear almost enameled, the obverse sees a deep cobalt flow downwards from the upper peripheries, transforming suddenly into a stark red, converging at the base to form a deep orange. The reverse features argent surfaces, each device outlined by an intense blue. An already appealing medal in its condition and subject, but now a true beauty and one for the collector of Napoleonic medals or connoisseur of toning. Incorrectly noted as 1813 on holder.
