Napoleon I. First Empire (1804-14). Grand Sanhedrin bronze Medal 1806 (restrike 1880-1950) UNC, Bramsen-527, by Depaulis and Brenet. 41.5mm. Depicts Napoleon holding the ten commandments before a kneeling Moses; this rare and iconic medal commemorates Napoleon's convening of the "Sanhedrin" council, within which he allowed Jews to fight within his armies by relieving them of their Kosher restrictions in exchange for religious freedom and state protection in the French empire. A bright and 'as struck' example, of a very historically important subject and desirable thus.
