Napoleon I. First Empire (1804-14). Battle of Jena silver Medal 1806 MS61 NGC, Bramsen-539, Julius-1598, by Manfredini. 40mm. A razor-sharp, high-relief silver medal and one of the more popular types of the entire Napoleonic series, its subject matter the decisive battle of Jena which saw the Kingdom of Prussia subjugated to the French Empire until 1812. Unusually for this medal type and age, it has remained almost as bright and white as when first struck, the usual golden patina absent from its argent surfaces. With only a medium smattering of contact marks in its fields lowering its certified grade, this attractive piece appeals both to the eye, and to the collector.
