Pair of silver Medals: Napoleon I. First Empire (1804-14). Marriage of Napoleon to Marie-Louise of Austria 1810 AU, Bramsen 952/ cf. 953, by Andrieu. 32.5mm. Its exact variety unlisted, this attractive silver medal bears the conjoined busts of Napoleon and his young bride Marie-Louise of Austria, who was only 19 at the time of their wedding in 1810. A slight edge knock at 3 o'clock on the obverse and the lightest rub to the high points are the only slight distractions from this otherwise elegant and appealing commemorative medal, produced in high relief and with a deep toning to the fields. Together with a later 19th century French marriage medal, which also shows attractive iridescent toning. 2 in lot.
