Napoleon I. First Empire (1804-14). École des Beaux-Arts silvered bronze Medal 1812 UNC Details (Cleaned) NGC, Bramsen-1178, Julius-2558, by Gatteaux. 59mm. Struck in intricate detail, this specimen shows Napoleon I, seated and robed as Emperor holding a wreath. On the reverse, a helmeted Athena is surrounded by a laurel wreath and symbols of the fine arts. Fine parallel hairlines reveal past cleaning, though their regularity and unidirectionality result in minimal impact on what remains a lovely and highly historical piece.
