BELGIUM. Namur. Esterlin, ND, Guy of Dampierre (1263-97). PCGS EF-45 Secure Holder.
Vanhoudt-G2162. Guy of Dampierre (c.1226-1305) was count of Flanders (1251-1305) and marquis of Namur (1268-97) when those regions were among the richest in Europe. This esterlin is not rare (a photo of one appears on Guy's Wikipedia page) but this example is above average, showing no trace of the striking weakness commonly seen on coins featuring a long cross on the reverse. Nicely toned, PCGS EF-45 Secure Holder.
From the Trebuchet Collection.
Estimate: $100.00- $150.00
