FRANCE. 5 Francs Essai in Silver, 1825. Paris Mint. NGC MS-63.
Maz-900; KM-M16a. Although noted on the label as an "ESSAI", this specimen is actually a monnaie de visite, issued on the occasion of the visit of Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Sicilie, Duchesse de Berry (1798-1870, daughter-in-law of Charles X) to the Paris mint. The king's portrait is not the standard coinage bust by Michaut but another by Tiolier. Prooflike with dark toning. RARE and quite attractive. NGC MS-63.
Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
