PHOENICIA, Marathos. 230/29 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 16.79 g, 11h). In the name and types of Alexander III. Dated CY 30 (of Arados, 230/29 BC). Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, civic monogram above palm tree; [date (in Phoenician) in exergue]. Duyrat, Ateliers, Series III, 62–3 var. (unlisted dies); Price 3452; HGC 10, 185; DCA 820. VF, lightly toned, light marks, faint graffiti, die shift and off center on reverse. Extremely rare, only two examples noted by Duyrat (the two in Pella, and including the one in the ANS Photofile), none in CoinArchives.
