Tacitus (275-276). BI Antoninianus, Siscia mint. Obv. IMP C M CL TACITVS PF AVG. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust left, holding spear and shield. Rev. VICTORIA GOTTHI. Victory standing left, holding wreath and palm; in exergue, P. RIC 171. BI. g. 2.63 mm. 21.50 R. Rare and interesting issue. Green-brown patina. Good VF. This coin marks the victory over the restive Goths in Asia Minor who had originally been hired to assist in Aurelian's campaign against Persia. The rebellion was put down, but the strain of this conflict contributed to the death of the aged emperor. (CNG 66, 1607 note).
