Orders, Medals and Decorations, Viceroy Commissioned Officers, Afghanistan Medal 1878-80, no clasp, awarded to Woordie Major Muthra Singh, 8th Bengal Cavalry, (Woordie Major Muthra Singh 8th Bengal Cavy.) engraved in running script, very fine
A scarce and unique rank only found in the Indian Cavalry. The Woordie Major was the Indian Adjutant of the regiment. Mutra Singh entered service on 1/2/1865. Commissioned Jemadar on 9/9/1867, promoted Ressaidar on 4/10/1875 and Risaldar on 20/8/1880. This regiment was awarded the battle honour "Afghanistan 1879-80".
