This fourée denarius displays a combination of dies unrecorded by Crawford; it takes the reverse from Crawford 317/1 and the reverse from Crawford 317/3b. The forger may have intentionally created this fourée from two separate official issues or from an official issue that utilised a die combination unknown to current scholarship.
