World Currency
China Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation 1 Mexican Dollar 1.1.1885 Pick S366. A solid example of this note which represents the early days of HSBC's business. Even though official Chinese currency at the time were in Taels, HSBC issued notes in Mexican Dollars, the currency franca in the busy trading hub. The light red security protector and steel plate pattern by Barclay & Fry remain excellent, with the manuscript signatures bold. A very appealing example in every way. PMG Very Fine 20. Annotations and minor rust are noted. HID08701242017
