China Russo-Chinese Bank Tientsin 50 Taels ND (1907) Pick S552s Specimen. This Specimen grades PMG About Uncirculated 55 with a printer's annotation. It is a pencilled date of "17th Dec 1908" at upper left. The original name for this Russian interest bank appears on this example, with the denomination in taels. This bank later operated as the Russo-Chinese Bank, which used remainders of this design to print an updated location of issue and denomination in dollars. This update overprint obliterated many features, which can only be seen on a note of the first bank title. The classical design with dragons and the more complex designs in the underprint is a trademark of Bradbury Wilkinson notes that was only used for a few years around the turn of the 20th century.
