Diademed head of the deified Alexander III the Great of Macedon right, wearing horn of Ammon / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ | ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ, Athena seated left, Nike in right hand, left arm leaning on large grounded shield with gorgoneion motif, transverse reversed spear in background; KEP monogram to inner left, BY on throne, ornamented trident left in exergue. Müller 199. SNG Copenhagen 1138-9 var. (different monogram). Exceptionally well-struck on both sides, with strong details showcased on the bold reverse to the smallest features on the high-relief shield decorations. Certainly worthy of the star designation earned by this artistic masterpiece.
