Boxer Rebellion silver Specimen Medal on the Bombardment of the Taku Forts on June 17, 1900, SP63 PCGS, by Oertel in Berlin, 35mm. Nicely toned, with fully mirrored fields and frosted devices. If this were a coin, one would probably call it a Proof. Obv. German gunboat SMS Iltis which was instrumental in the bombardment. Rev. View of the mouth of the Hai river showing the various forts. This attack by the allied forces had a major influence on the decision of the Dowager Empress Cixi's to support the Boxers. Very rare.
