Kirin. Kuang-hsü Dollar CD 1900 MS64 NGC, Kirin mint, L&M-531, Kann-397, KM-Y183. A miraculous survivor of this popular provincial issue, with flashy bloom that remains as strong as the day it was minted and surface quality that suggests near-immediate placement in an area for safekeeping. Some softness of detail, particulary in the centers, is the result of an incomplete strike, but this characteristic is fairly common for the type. One of only two examples to merit this unsurpassed near-Gem grade at NGC, with no equals at PCGS. As such, an ideal example for the collector of elite-quality Chinese dollars.
