Kirin. Kuang-hsü Dragon Dollar CD 1901 AU58 NGC, Kirin mint, KM-Y183a.1, L&M-536, Kann-425. A most appealing specimen with aged gray and gold toning over surfaces exhibiting considerable original mint luster. The details on the dragon are exceptionally sharp and the overall eye appeal is excellent, especially for this often crudely struck series. An inverted "A" replaces the "V" in PROVINCE, and this type normally shows a retrograde "S" in CAINDARINS. Unfortunately, the reverse legend is softly struck between five and six o'clock, and the "S" of CAINDARINS is not visible. The dragon's tail ends in 9 spines and the fiery ball has 9 flames. Very scarce.
